5 signs you need a new roof

You’re probably like….I dont want to replace my roof. Well, maybe you don’t have to. Here are 5 signs you need a new roof. Although it’s counterintuitive, we hope you don’t see any of them! And if you are unsure, call out DA Roofers for a free consultation!

1. Age of your Roof

Age is just a number….but it’s also the first indicator if you need a new roof or not! Most roofs last between 15-25 years, depending on the quality of the materials, installation, and attic venting. As your roof ages, it becomes more susceptible to damage and may need lots of repairs. But if your roof is nearing it’s expected lifespan, it might make sense to replace it so you can avoid costly and really inconvenient (and maybe dangerous) issues!

2. Interior water damage

Do you have unwanted water puddles or see stains/water spots on your walls and/or ceilings? While some small leaks can be repaired, persistent leaks or multiple leaks may indicate that you need a new roof. Leaks can be caused by worn-out shingles, damage to flashing, or storm damage. DA Roofers can totally come assess your roof and situation.

3. Missing or damaged shingles

If your roof is missing shingles or your shingles don’t look how they used to look, it might be time for a new roof. If you see cracked, curling, loose shingles, it’s time to call in da’ experts. Damage or discoloration around vents, chimneys or skylights is also another indicator that you may need a roof inspection. And it’s also a good idea to check gutters for shingle debris. An asphalt shingle’s top coat is usually made of granules of limestone and rock. If you see granules collecting in your gutters or on the ground, let DA Roofers know. 4. A sagging roofline

Beneath your shingles is something called decking - it’s the support structure that holds the roof up and it’s usually plywood or planks of wood. If your roof looks droopy or saggy, its a sign that the decking is weakened from moisture and needs to be replaced.

5. Storm Damage

Ice storms, rainstorms, tornadoes, derechos, tornadoes and hurricanes! Storm damage is perhaps the leading cause of roof replacements. Storms can wreak roofs, no matter what condition they are in before the storm. For example, high-speed wind can rip shingles completely off of a roof, or lift them, and cause them to crack. As a result, this opens up the roof to leaks and UV damage. If windstorms are followed by rain or snow, moisture can quickly seep into the roofing system and lead to water damage. Debris carried by the wind can also blow into your roof and puncture the shingles. If your roof recently sustained a heavy storm, it’s important to act fast when you suspect a problem! And depending on your insurance policy, you may be entitled to a roof replacement covered by your insurance provider. DA Roofers are insurance specialists and we can help you navigate an insurance claim.
